Frances Nero had a great voice and was wasted at Motown, she was there three years and this was the only record they released on her!! She did not record again until Ian Levine recorded her on "Footsteps following me" in the early 1990's. Sadly Frances passed away in November 2014. She may have gone but she left this superb record as a lasting memorial to her talent. RIP lovely soul lady. Regards. Malc.

Both sides of this 45 were backing tracks intended for The Marvelettes in 1964, and not used ....Frances Nero won a radio competition to record at Motown. The producers overdubbed her vocals onto the tracks and gave us a couple of gems..."Fight fire with fire" is great too.
Shame she wasn't given a chance on more recordings.

Long story short....when I visited Motown , I had the telephone number of several Motown artists. I made several contacts including Ivy Hunter by phone, Pat Lewis at a club and Martha Reeves.
I also received a telephone message from Frances Nero who wanted to meet us. Alas we had an appointment with Martha so we never met her. A shame really.
