The Poets were only known as the "American" Poets in the UK, because there was a UK (Scottish) RnB group called the Poets - sort of sub-Stones kind of thing - in fact they were managed by Stones manager, Andrew Loog Oldham. Like many UK RnB bands, they finished up as a "psychedelic" band.

Rather like the Spinners, who became the Detroit Spinners purely for UK legal reasons, but were always the Spinners in their home market, the Poets were always the Poets in the US, but were "American" in the UK!!

The Poets had two releases on Symbol, out of New York, both in that wonderful year, 1966.

"She Blew A Good Thing/Out To Lunch" (214)
    "I'm Particular/I've Got Two Hearts" (219).
